Tulip Days
For centuries Amsterdam has been associated
with the legendary Tulip. Originating from the palace gardens in
Constantinople the bulb is introduced to the Dutch merchant at the
beginning of the 17th century with a true tulip rage in Amsterdam
as a result. Nowadays the tulip is hardly present in the city anymore.
A great pity: Amsterdam should be overflowing with tulips and other
bulbs in spring.

Laurence Aëgerter
Seek and Hide
In may 2010 a solo exhibition opens of French
artist Laurence Aėgerter. The Museum has been following her work
for some years
There was a direct connection between french born but dutch resident
Aėgerter and Philippa van Loon, who nowadays lives in France with
her family. Aėgerter
feels quite at home in Museum Van Loon, which reminds her of her
parent's home in France where she - an antiquarian's daughter
grew up amidst 17th- and 18th-century furniture. Love for
ancient objects inticed an education as an antique apparaiser
and work at Christie's. To Aėgerter the entourage and history of
the majestic house
proves an ideal starting point for an exhibition.
